Whole class reward games help motivate students, increases assignment completion and encourage positive classroom behaviors. Keep your students on track by creating a whole class reward game that’s fun and engaging! Transform your classroom into a giant board game that promotes positive student behavior! It's time to make SPIN THAT WHEEL!

1. Build your board by creating each game piece using full-size printing paper. Make each piece using canva.com. Select simplistic elementary images and pair them with fun bold text. If you are not familiar with Canva, then import images and use text features in word. Canva.com

2. Print basic gaming terms such as "move two spaces forward," "free spin," "or fun whole class reward incentives like "ice pops for the class." Be creative and make 20 to 30 authentic pieces. Spread out the smaller winning prizes to add some excitement for your students as you navigate the board throughout each marking period. Make the pieces challenging and fun! Match the rewards to fit the needs of your class. Remember, the more pieces you create the longer the game will last!

3. Line the top of your chalkboard or display the large game pieces in your classroom in an area that can stay up for weeks or months! Use a classroom clip to keep track of any movement when your students advance on the board. Make sure your “Grand Class Prize” is your very last square. Below is a miniature version but you should make several pieces to keep your students engaged for an extended period of time, possibly months.

4. Use a Classroom “On Task BehaviorTracker” to have your students earn a spin on the wheel!

 5. Create a simple classroom spinner to display at the front of your room. Place movement values on the spinner or choose a “free spin option”. Remember to use your “class behavior tracker”. Reward your students a spin when students show “on task” behaviors.

Important teacher takeaways!

Always review classroom expectations with your students. If you have morning meeting this would be a great topic to infuse into your discussions. Have students help create and have ownership in developing your classroom rules and expectations. Inquire about their hobbies, passions, and interests when creating prize selections. Have fun and make learning exciting!
